The gun charges against Buju Banton have been dismissed

Finally some good news for reggae icon Buju Banton.

Federal Judge James Moody of a Florida Federal Court ruled in favor of Buju and has dismissed the gun charge that was injected back into the case by an appeal court judge. The ruling was made on June 26 th 2013.

Buju Banton's fight for freedom has struck a high note.

Judge Moody also requested that the government charge Juror Teri Wright with contempt for violating court orders a she lied to the court about researching the case during the high profile trial.

Unfortunately the judge dismissed Buju’s defense motion for a new trial. This means the Grammy-winning reggae star still has to serve out his 10 year sentence.

Buju was facing an additional five years on the gun charge. He could be released from prison in February 2019.
