Great News for Lauryn Hill and her fans!
Lauryn Hill may be out of debt sooner than we think.
The Legendary Fugee singer racked up a hefty IRS debt of $968,000 and could land herself a warm seat in prison if half isn't paid. However, Ms Hill must be breathing a sigh of relief as she moves toward fixing a sticky situation.
The singer recently struck a new deal with Sony Music. Under the new deal, Lauryn Hill will be launching a new label which, will contain all her upcoming new music and albums.
Hill addressed the situation via her Tumblr account in an open letter, this is what she wrote: "It has been reported that I signed a new record deal, and that I did this to pay taxes. Yes, I have recently entered into an agreement with Sony Worldwide Entertainment, to launch a new label, on which my new music will be released. And yes, I am working on new music."

Close Call for Lauren Hill
Lauryn Hill could spend a year behind bars
Lauryn has escaped prison, but don't get too excited yet.
The former Fugee singer had her sentencing delayed two more weeks when she appeared in court recently for her sentencing hearing. This is a sigh of relief for Hill as she now has more time to cough up her almost 1 million dollar tax debt.
According to TMZ, Hill’s attorney told the judge she recently signed a million-dollar recording deal with Sony and will also be taking out a loan of $650,000 to put towards her $968,000 tax bill. If she fails to pay up, Lauryn Hill could spend as much as 1 year behind bars.

Lauryn Hill owes big money!!
The Killing Me Softly singer stopped paying taxes 'when she withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family
The hip-hop artist however, didn't elaborate on the perceived threats.
Hill also has asked the court to consider other factors before her sentencing, including her contention that she can pay off her debt faster if she's not imprisoned.
